Waiting for Nokia N900 to arrive. Well unfortunately the wait time has just increased as Nokia has delayed the launch date of its Maemo based handset to November. Nokia UK’s online store mentions November as the shipping date for Nokia N900.
Peter Schneider, head of Maemo Marketing, Nokia Corporation confirmed November as the launch date for Nokia N900. He said:
The Nokia N900 is a great example of what we and the open source community have been able to achieve with Maemo software. We are working closely with open source developers and for example, at the Maemo Summit in October, we loaned 300 pre-production units to get more feedback from the community. This feedback is extremely important to us and as such we also want to provide the best user experience with the Nokia N900. We expect it to start shipping during November 2009
Previously Nokia’s Internet Tablet was expected to arrive in the late part of October but that is all part of the history now.
I had a “chat” with Lester last night, a cust. svc. sales rep. with Nokia. He stated the new release date is set for the middle of November. I also asked about getting onto a “tickler” list so that I could be notified when Nokia releases the N900. He stated the only list available is the pre-order list. Other than that, no luck on getting a msg. stating the phones are released. Oh well.
We are excited for the cell phone! I tried contacting Nokia, they too said it's going to be released in November but not in all countries.
