From recent product launches, what’s clearly visible is that the Cupertino based electronic giant is constantly working on bringing a part from the iOS and Mac OS together and form a mashup.
The recent OS announcement, assures us of that. Back to the Mac event, Steve Jobs gave a sneak peak into the new OS, 10.7 called Lion which will hit the shelves this summer. What intriguing about this piece of software is that it brings the best of iOS (which is running on iPods, iPhones and iPads) and Mac into one operating system.
New MultiTouch Gestures, born from the portable devices is soon coming to Macs. Launchpad, a place to quickly grab your most used apps from iPad like app arrangement. Swipe, Select and use. Similar to launch pad, applications will also go fullscreen (again, like the iOS). Then finally we’ve got Mission Control. Gives you an eagle view of what’s up with your mac, which applications are running, expose and spaces.
You can club apps and make folders like you can on iPhone. What more? A Mac App Store just completes the requirement. That’s all what you needed to make the Mac almost a faster and a much more useful version of iOS.
What I observe is that basically, Apple’s portable devices are much more sold than their computer lineup. Customers
usually get used to certain OS especially iOS being user friendly, My Dad has not bought any other phone except the iPhones since last 2 years when he got his first iPhone. Definitely, when he’s introduced to the new Mac with 10.7, he’ll be glued to it cause he already knows how it works like and how simple it is.
Then why not go for it? This way, Apple will make way into more and more houses and offices day by day!
